Our Sustainability Initiatives

Reducing Single-Use Plastics

We are continuously working to eliminate unnecessary single-use plastics across our hotel operations, including:

  • Providing full-sized bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner and body wash in guest rooms to reduce packaging waste.
  • Removing single-use plastic packaging from guest amenities, with alternatives available in recycled packaging upon request.
  • Eliminating plastic straws, plastic cups and single-use plastic water bottles across our hotel.

Energy Efficiency

We are committed to reducing energy consumption through smarter solutions, including:

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the hotel.
  • Keycard-controlled power systems in guest rooms to help minimise unnecessary energy use.

Waste Reduction & Management

We actively look for ways to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency, including:

  • Digital in-room dining menus and electronic invoicing to reduce paper consumption.
  • Ongoing initiatives to monitor and minimise food waste.
  • Using fresh herbs grown in our onsite garden to support sustainable kitchen practices.

Water Conservation

We are committed to responsible water use through initiatives such as:

Water-efficient showerheads installed throughout guest rooms to help reduce water consumption while maintaining guest comfort.

Environmentally Friendly Cleaning

We prioritise the use of environmentally responsible cleaning practices by selecting eco-certified cleaning products that reduce environmental impact.

Supporting Local Suppliers

Where possible, we partner with local suppliers to support our community, reduce transport impacts and showcase quality Australian produce and products.

Recycling & Resource Recovery

Our hotel has recycling programs in place across back-of-house operations to help divert waste from landfill and encourage responsible disposal practices.

Sustainable Meetings & Events

For meetings and events at Novotel St Kilda, we offer more sustainable options including:

Removing traditional banquet notepads upon request and encouraging guests to use digital devices such as laptops and tablets.
Providing recycled paper products including toilet paper and hand towels.
Offering water in reusable jugs rather than single-use bottled water.

We are committed to continuously reviewing and improving our sustainability practices to reduce our environmental footprint and create a more responsible future for our guests, our community and generations to come.
